Master Sinfonia Chamber Orchestra’s Wind Octet

The Octet features wind players drawn from the Master Sinfonia Chamber Orchestra, which is typically a group of ~36 players. The traditional wind octet consists of pairs of oboes, clarinets, french horns, and bassoons, which is the core wind section for an orchestra from the Classical Period.

Many great composers then, including Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven wrote for this combination of instruments, and much of this music was intended for informal settings, often outdoors, making it wonderful for 3rdThursday!

The Octet is comprised of Claudia Engel & Lianne Araki on oboes, Richard Steinberg & Chris Stathis on clarinets, June Bower & John Burton on horns, and Jennifer Wolfeld & Trevor Grant on bassoons.
