Hootenanny!

Welcome to Hootenanny!

Hootenanny! is an eclectic Acoustic Rock/Pop cover band from the San Jose Bay Area. We play the absolute greatest songs from the 60s, 70s, 80s, and more.

Hootenanny! is not your average Acoustic Rock/Pop cover band.  Hootenanny! is the songs you love, the songs you grew up with, the songs you want to sing along to, and the songs you forgot about that you can’t believe we’re playing. We play an incredibly wide variety of classic rock and pop tunes, with a little country thrown in for flavor.

If you love music like we do, you’ll love Hootenanny!

Rick Sanders

Rick Sanders

Rick grew up listening to music during the 80s and 90s but didn’t start playing until much later. He’s a product of Bay Area musical instruction, taking guitar lessons and then voice lessons from local instructors and earning his chops in open mics and cover bands. Some artists who captivated him early on were Jimi Hendrix, Yusuf/Cat Stevens, R.E.M., and the Barenaked Ladies.

Rick started out with the electric guitar before embracing the acoustic guitar and singing. After seeing live looping for the first time at a KT Tunstall concert, the idea of being able to play both lead and rhythm as a solo artist set him on what would eventually become his path as a performer.

About Live Looping

A large part of Rick’s live show is something called “Live Looping”. This is a technique that utilizes on-stage pedals to record the live performance and replay it in real-time. When layering these recordings with various guitar and vocal effects, it lets Rick emulate the drummer, bass player, and background vocals to give the music a true full-band feel.

Rasquache Liberation Front

Rasquache Liberation Front

…a trippy, original stew of Chicano music to raise spirits and liberate audiences

The Rasquache Liberation Front’s (RLF) forthcoming album produced by Los Lobos’ Steve Berlin, is a dispatch of original psychedelic cumbiasjarocho blues, lowrider folk, and cuentos. Original songs, with English and Spanish lyrics, explore stories of migration, family, and identity. Collectively, the RLF creates a trippy and original stew of Chicano music to raise spirits and liberate audiences.

The RLF emerges from the eclectic musical backgrounds of front members that span from mariachi to Puerto Rican bomba, Tejano to Afro-Cuban jazz, and from salsa to blues.

The RLF músicos have toiled for decades in Latino music scenes in NorCal and beyond—at salsa clubs and VFW halls, on mainstages, and in lobbies—working with a who’s-who of internationally renowned artists. Their live shows blend their deep repertoire of Latin genres from cumbia to son jarocho with original songs steeped in Mexican-Americana.

The RLF’s diverse sets and skilled músicos complement many genres and deliver on a variety of stages, from intimate venues to concert halls in electric or acoustic settings.
